Ended up with 210mm until 9. Still raining heavily here.

Power is still out, strange seeing not even a pot plant is over in the yard.

Must admit I scoffed at all the hype. Looking at the rain in it I figgered over fast but I was fooled. A lot came along behind and we we're perfectly situated to get it. A fair bit of slamimg wind, driving rain and noises off into the night. Reminded me of Cyclone Joy when living in Port and watching my sliding glass doors flex in and out and swore never again will I have those. We gave up on the verandah and spent the time behind the heavy sliding barn doors on foam beds on the floor. Will be awhile before we assess things but the landline and ADSL2 have performed perfectly. Rain gauge filled up, obviously so it's anyone's guess, I think Daintree is sitting on 400+mm.
I did think shutting down the ferry a bit precipitous but when road after road was closed I figgered one should be where one wants to sit it out by 24 hours before. Have got sourdough rye rolls baking, and a chilli in the crock pot so we're doing fine. Just a pity we're still not recovered from the Influenza A that knocked us over some starting third of the month.
The silence is to be savoured...even de boidies are holding their breaths.

It was a non-event here. Power, mobile, and landlines kept running.

The birds were quieter yesterday. Thought the noisy bower birds had disappeared, but saw a lone one eating a pawpaw on the ground. The galahs were out pretty late yesterday, pecking amongst my newly grown weeds. Then the semi-feral guinea fowl reappeared. Must've realised it was going to be a non event.

I'm a newbie at this. Jasper would've been my first cyclone, with 25+ years living between Darwin, NW-WA, and 18 years in FNQ.

Chillagoe was expressly listed with Palmerville in the *Warning Zone*. I have to ask: did Chillagoe experience a cyclone or not. 😀

It was a good learning experience, without the suffering afterward. Got the outside stuff sorted easily. The inside stuff needs lots more organisation.

We've had continual rain now, light sprinkles, and occasional heavier rain showers. Everything is wonderfully damp and humid.

25mm in the gauge yesterday at 9am.
50mm this morning at 7.30am.

Just 235mm so far for the entire event down here...

very nice soaking rain though I would actually prefer a good night of creek flushing rain..not 4-500mm though..

I have to confess with being pretty happy with being out of the firing line of this one...even cat 1 or 2 I would find the whole ordeal so emotionally exhausting..I guess thats the downside to making a living from pot plants and associated un-insured fragile infrastructure.

Still no power here and unlikely for a few days at least. I’ve had approx 850mm in the last few days since cyclone passed. Got caught in Mossman yesterday with foxton river going over was stuck there from 9am until 2pm wasn’t coming down said stuff this locked my car and walked across foxton about 500mm over and flowing hard and continued to walk the 12km home on the highway I’m the pouring rain.
